Coming December 10th: A Wild Mushroom Identification Class!

chanterelleCrazy about mushrooms? Want to learn how to identify and pick your own? Join us in the large meeting room on Thursday, December 10th, at 6:00 pm for “Wild About Mushrooms,” a free beginners’ class in mushroom identification!

Presenter Kathleen Dickson is an amateur “expert” on the kinds of mushrooms to be found along the southern Oregon coast. Kathleen was introduced to the world of edible mushrooms through the friendships she forged with local mushroom harvesters, first learning how to identify and pick coastal mushrooms like the chanterelle, black trumpet, and hedgehog, then immersing herself in the commercial mushroom industry. Kathleen is the co-founder of the Wild Rivers Mushroom Club and co-owner, along with her husband, Rich, of OtterBee’s Farm & Fungi, a Brookings business whose main focus is local fruits, vegetables, and wild edible mushrooms.

This event has been graciously sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
