Library Borrowing Policies
The Chetco Community Public Library is a member of the Coastline Library Network, which serves 100,000 people on the Southern Oregon Coast and provides access to over 640,000 library items.
With a valid library card from any of the libraries in the Coastline Library Network, you are able to request materials using our online catalog from any public library in Coos or Curry County. Materials may be checked out from and returned to any of the Coastline libraries.
Videos and DVDs: 7 days
All other library items: 21 days
Items which have not been reserved by another person may be renewed twice. You can renew your materials in person, via phone, or by logging into your patron account on our online catalog. Please note that interlibrary loans (items that have been borrowed by request from libraries outside of the Coastline Library Network) cannot be renewed.
All users may place up to 50 holds per account.
Overdue Policies and Additional Fees:
Videos and DVDs: $1.00 per item per day
All other items: $0.15 per item per day.
Lost or Damaged Items:
When an item has been lost or damaged enough to require replacement, the user will be charged the retail price of the item, plus a processing fee.
Fine Limits/Blocked Accounts:
All user accounts will be blocked from placing holds, renewing, and checking out items if your account balance is $5.00 or more.
Patrons are provided with a receipt that lists the due date of each item when checking out materials at the circulation desk. You may also check the due date of your materials by logging into your patron account on our online catalog.
If the library does not have an item you are looking for, we may be able to locate and request it from another library. To cover the cost of postage, the cost to pick up an interlibrary loan is $2.00 for any item borrowed from a library outside of the Coastline Library Network (Coos and Curry County Libraries). To request an interlibrary loan, you may request and fill out a form at the front desk, or you may call and request it during operating hours. For added convenience, you may fill out a request on our online catalog. Simply click on “Request Materials” on the right-hand side of the page and complete the form.
You will be notified when the item is available for pickup, or in the event that the library is unable to locate or borrow the item from another library.
Talking Book and Braille Library Services
The Oregon State Library’s Talking Book and Braille service is available to qualifying print-disabled Oregonians. If you would like to determine eligibility and apply for services, applications are available at the front desk. You may also apply for this service online at www.oregon.gov.
If you are unable to come to the library in person, you may request our home-bound services by filling out the form at the bottom of this page or by requesting a copy of the form at the front desk. We will match you with a volunteer to deliver books, audio books, and DVDs of your choosing. Please call or email the library if you require additional assistance.
