Local Authors Collection

The Chetco Community Public Library wishes to recognize the literary efforts of local authors by including their works in the collection whenever appropriate. All local author books are shelved in our Quiet Reading Room and can be found in our online catalog.

In order to have a book included in our collection, the author must live in Curry County or have a strong connection to this county as determined by the Library Director. Certain requirements of our Collection Development Policy are waived to allow for these items to be included, including attention by critics and reviewers and popular demand. Other aspects of our Collection Development policy relating to content must be met. You can view our Collection Development Policy on our policy page.

For Local Authors:

To request that we add your book to our collection, you must complete the Local Authors Collection Application and turn it into library staff along with a donated copy of your book. Please complete one form for each book you want us to consider. You may request a blank application at the library.

Please note that all books in our collection are subject to being removed (weeded) at the discretion of library staff. Books are primarily weeded due to lack of circulation, bad condition, or outdated information. The author will not be notified if their book is removed from the collection.

If you have any questions, contact the Library Director.
